After a discussion with Leendert and Jelmer about qualia, the explanation of consciousness, and Pirsig’s quality, I looked up my old post on the subject, and found a nice Dissenter’s Analysis of the MOQ by one Glenn (via Wikipedia, naturally). I read and liked the MOQ Catechism, criticisms of Dynamic Quality, the Moral Taxonomy. Useful and sobering. It is interesting that Glenn appears to be rather irritated by Pirsig … an emotion that Leendert and I also had when reading Lila. It all started with a chat on the free will article in het NRC last Saturday (part 1, part 2).
